Founding of the company under the name of Jacques Guay Inc.
The company changes names for Les Pièces d’auto Transit Inc. (Transit Auto Parts). Mr. Guay passes the reins to his son Stéphan. Growth is explosive: annual sales revenues increase by 30%.
Expansion of the warehouse.
A 2nd expansion of the warehouse.
Opening a 2nd warehouse of 10,000 square feet.
Transit occupies a 35,000 square-foot warehouse which also becomes too small.
Transit opens its first branch in Montreal, in the St-Léonard area.
Opening a branch in Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland.
Opening a branch in Toronto, Ontario.
Inauguration of the new 50,000 square-foot building on land almost 7 times larger. The new facilities are on the cutting edge of technology and conform to the highest standards of energy efficiency with a geothermal system and smart lighting. Additionally, the computerized warehouse system allows for the management of more than 18,000 different products.
Opening a branch in St-Hubert, Quebec.
Construction of a new building in Newfoundland.
Beginning of a partnership with RJB in the Maritimes.
Transit’s first acquisition: CMX automotive in Ontario. CMX’s brakes are added to the products already offered by Transit in Ontario, providing our clients quality and diverse products.
Transit is awarded “Desjardins Great Distinction” at the “Pleiades Gala” by the Chamber of Commerce of Levis. This award recognizes companies that are members of Desjardins and have distinguished themselves in their field through the implementation of winning strategies, innovative actions and their contribution to the community.
Expansion of the Toronto branch, which doubles in size to reach 32,000 square feet.
Expansion of Transit’s main distribution centre in Lévis, Quebec which triples in size, going from 50,000 to 150,000 square feet.
Acquisition of Unitool, a company that specializes in the distribution of high quality hand tools, tool boxes and equipment for the automotive, industrial and construction sectors, for over 50 years.
Beginning of a partnership with Trivest, a US company specialized in private equity.
